This work is a result of exposure to my death anxiety. Inspired by a passage in Unbearable Lightness of Being, I have created a kitschy object, however, not as a symbol of the denial of death. The chandelier and the disco ball, made of candle lights collected from rubbish bins in cemeteries, are rather a memento mori reminding me of that “…though the physicality of death destroys us, the idea of death saves us.” (Irvin D.
